Specifications
PureSperm® 100 is the registered trade name of a
density-gradient product designed for the separation and purification of normal
spermatozoa from human ejaculate by centrifugation, a standard procedure in Assisted
Reproduction Technology (ART).
PureSperm® 100 has the following specifications:
- Colloidal silica particles firmly coated with silane, in an isotonic salt solution
- Stable colloid/salt solution with shelf life of 2 years from production date
- pH of 7.4-7.8 at room temperature and at +37°C
- Isotonicity of 300-310 mOsm/kg water
- HEPES buffer included
- Glucose included
- Terminally sterilised by autoclave
- Carbon content in dry residue 4-5%
- Density of approximately 1.10 to 1.25 g/mL
- Packaged in borosilicate glass bottles with silicone stoppers and tamper proof seals
- Filters bacteria from infected ejaculate samples
- Low endotoxin levels.<1.0 EU/mL
Storage and Stability
Store unopened bottles at 2 – 40ºC and avoid temperatures above or below these values. Under these conditions
PureSperm® 100 has a shelf-life of 2 years. Expiry date is shown on bottles and cartons.
Open and close bottles under aseptic conditions. After opening, store at 2 – 8ºC when not in use.
No antibiotics, unstable additives or preservatives have been included in PureSperm® 100.
Precautions and Warnings
- When using large bottles, consider decanting PureSperm® 100 into smaller, sterile containers to reduce the risk ofinadvertent contamination.
- Use aseptic procedures at all times.
- Use sealed buckets during centrifugation to avoid creation of aerosols.
- Clean accidental spills using a dampened cloth or paper. PureSperm® 100 causes floors and benches to be extremely slippery.
- PureSperm® 100 does not represent any fire or combustion hazard. A material safety data sheet (MSDS) is available fromthe manufacturer or distributor.
- Federal Law (USA) restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician.
- It is not intended that these gradients should be used more than once, because of sperm sample mixing and
- reduced gradient efficacy.
